RGPPSEZ and RGKSEZ post strong job, trade growth in first eight months of 2026

Royal Group Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone (RGPPSEZ) and Royal Group Kandal Special Economic Zone (RGKSEZ) reported strong growth in employment and trade during the first eight months of 2026.

Between January and August, combined exports from the two zones reached $1.907 billion, up 45% from $1.311 billion in the same period of 2025, according to Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ Plc., the developer and operator of the zones.

Imports also rose sharply. Total imports for January-August 2026 were $2.16 billion, compared with $1.342 billion in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 61%.

Employment increased as well. By August 2026, the two zones were employing 63,344 workers, up 17% from 54,195 a year earlier.

Growth linked to manufacturing expansion

The company said the gains reflect wider manufacturing activity and expanding operations by firms in the zones. It added that the strong export performance shows how manufacturers based there are supporting Cambodia's international trade and its integration into regional and global supply chains.

Together, the two special economic zones contributed more than $4 billion to Cambodia's import-export activity during the eight-month period.

Chairman highlights investor resilience

Neak Oknha Kith Meng, chairman of Royal Group of Companies and Royal Group Phnom Penh SEZ Plc., said the growth demonstrated the resilience of investors and the strength of Cambodia's manufacturing sector.

He said enterprises within the zones were continuing to expand operations, create jobs and support economic activity, while the group remained committed to providing reliable infrastructure, quality services and a business-friendly environment for sustainable growth in Cambodia.

Government support and anti-scam efforts welcomed

RGPPSEZ said it appreciated the continued leadership and support of the Royal Government of Cambodia under Prime Minister Hun Manet.

It noted that efforts to improve the investment climate, expand infrastructure, promote industrialisation and combat online scams had helped create a safer and more favorable environment for businesses and investment.

The company also welcomed the International Conference on Combating Online Scams, hosted in Phnom Penh on 23-24 September 2026, calling it an important step toward enhancing security, international cooperation and Cambodia's reputation as a trusted destination for investment.

The latest figures underline the expanding scale of industrial activity within the two zones and their ongoing contribution to Cambodia's employment, manufacturing and international trade, the company said.
