Access to Financing Helps Ratanakiri Farmer Grow His Farm and Support His Family
Ratanakiri farmer Noy Saroeub has used successive loans to buy seedlings, equipment, land, and fertilizer, helping him expand crop production and strengthen his family’s livelihood.
For more than 15 years, Noy Saroeub has relied on farming to support his household. Through practical experience, careful crop management, and steady efforts to improve production, he has gradually increased his agricultural activities and built a stronger livelihood for his family.
Saroeub, 45, grows cashews, cassava, and soybeans in Teun Village, Teun Commune, Koun Mom District, Ratanakiri Province. One of the main obstacles he faced was securing enough capital to maintain his crops and expand production.
To meet those needs, he accessed financing through three separate loan cycles, with each loan used for a different stage of his farming plans.
Loans used to expand production
In 2022, Saroeub used his first loan to buy cashew seedlings and agricultural fertilizer. As his farming work expanded, he took a second loan in 2024 to purchase seeds for cashews, cassava, and soybeans, along with farming equipment.
In 2026, a third loan allowed him to buy additional farmland and fertilizers to support flowering, fruit development, and higher crop yields.
By using each loan for specific farming needs, Saroeub has expanded his cultivated area, improved his production capacity, and continued developing his agricultural business.
For Saroeub, farming is more than a way to earn income. It is a long-term livelihood for his family. With continued planning and commitment, he aims to improve his crops, grow his farm, and create better opportunities for his household.
Access to financial services continues to help farmers like Saroeub pursue livelihood and business goals by providing capital for investment and growth.
