New Sanitary Facilities Unveiled at Kampong Thom Primary School

PPCBank and the Raksa Koma Organization have finished building new toilets at Chambakkhangcheung Primary School in Kampong Thom, giving more than 250 students and staff cleaner, safer and more accessible sanitation.

The facility was officially opened on September 26 in a ceremony led by H.E. Sum Sannisith, Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, standing in for Governor H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, who also chairs the Raksa Koma Organization board.

PPCBank President Lee Jin Young, Executive Vice President Lee Jinkyu and Raksa Koma General Manager Soeung Phyry attended alongside local education officials, teachers, students and representatives from both organisations.

In his remarks, H.E. Sum Sannisith noted that the new building contains seven separate compartments designed with inclusivity in mind. Ramps, wide doorways and grab bars make it accessible to students with disabilities, while separate male and female sections feature secure locks and full-height walls to protect privacy.

For PPCBank, the project is part of a wider push to strengthen education across the country. "We are firmly committed to advancing the education sector, in line with our guiding principle: 'Shaping Cambodia's Future Through Education'," Mr. Lee Jin Young said.

He added that the bank views education as a key driver of sustainable growth and believes that improving learning conditions produces positive ripple effects throughout all sectors of Cambodian society.

The bank stressed that a child's learning environment goes well beyond classrooms and textbooks. Access to safe, appropriate sanitation directly affects students' comfort, dignity and ability to concentrate.

"Supporting proper sanitation is about much more than providing infrastructure. It is an investment in the health, safety, dignity and future of children, especially in communities where adequate facilities are still lacking," Mr. Lee Jin Young said.

He expressed hope that the new facilities would serve the school community for years to come and benefit the children who use them daily.

School administrators thanked PPCBank, Raksa Koma and the other partners involved, saying the upgraded facilities would make the school environment more suitable and comfortable for students.

For the pupils, the benefit is immediate: better access to essential facilities during the school day. For the organisations behind the project, the initiative represents a broader investment in the conditions that let children participate fully in their education.

By funding projects that tackle practical needs in schools and communities, PPCBank continues to pursue its education commitments while supporting the health and well-being of the areas where it operates.
