GX Summit 2026 Highlights Cambodia's Tourism Potential on Global Stage

Tourism Minister Huot Hak described the GX Summit 2026 in Siem Reap as a key platform for enhancing Cambodia's international visibility, promoting its tourism offerings, and forging long-term partnerships with global travel companies including G Adventures, which has committed to bringing more international visitors to the Kingdom.

Hak presided over the September 27 opening of the summit, which was attended by G Adventures co-founder Bruce Poon Tip, Ngov Sengkak representing Siem Reap provincial governor Prak Sophoan, Cambodia Association of Travel Agents president Chhay Sivlin, senior tourism ministry officials, G Adventures members, GX Summit delegates from around the world and over 700 local and international guests.

The minister welcomed domestic and international delegates and expressed gratitude to Poon Tip and the G Adventures team for choosing Cambodia as the host destination.

"GX Summit 2026 has generated significant benefits for Cambodia and its people by enhancing the nation's international reputation, showcasing its diverse tourism potential, and reflecting the country's reality of peace and stability," he said.

He added that the global event created favorable conditions for tourism, investment and business development, while driving income generation and economic activity in the hospitality sector through delegates' accommodation, travel, service usage and other spending throughout the event.

Poon Tip emphasized his company's commitment to Prime Minister Hun Manet to share Cambodia with the world.

"G Adventures will continue to bring the world to Cambodia by expanding promotion and bringing international tourists from around the world to visit and explore the tourism and cultural potential and warm hospitality of the Kingdom of Cambodia, particularly by directly supporting communities through tourism," he said.

In his opening remarks, Hak outlined three strategic recommendations aimed at making Cambodia's tourism sector more sustainable, resilient and inclusive, aligning with government vision and global tourism trends.

The first recommendation is to promote sustainable tourism and recovery by supporting communities and traditional handicrafts, encouraging green investment, and conserving cultural and natural heritage.

The second is to invest in resilience, innovation and human resources by leveraging technology and artificial intelligence, strengthening hospitality sector skills, and expanding inclusive opportunities for Cambodians.

The third is to strengthen long-term partnerships with G Adventures and other international tourism operators, investors and development partners to develop new tourism products, attract investment, and expand long-term tourism cooperation.

Hak believes GX Summit 2026 will serve as an important platform for exchanging ideas, building trust, and strengthening partnerships between government and private sector stakeholders.

He called on international delegates to help promote Cambodia's image worldwide as a country of peace and stability, known for its warm hospitality and rich cultural and natural heritage.
