Asia Europe Metal KH Moves Forward With Sustainable Metal Processing Project in Kampot

Asia Europe Metal KH Co., Ltd. has developed a modern metal processing and smelting facility in Kampot Province, with operations planned in line with Cambodian regulations and relevant international standards.

The project reached an important step on August 27, when Cambodia’s Ministry of Environment approved the Full Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Report for the plant. The facility is located on a 26.0091-hectare site in Mononop Village, Chumpu Voan Commune, Chum Kiri District, Kampot Province.

Production capacity and employment

The plant is intended to process four main metals: antimony, lead, tin and copper. Most of the output is expected to be exported to overseas markets.

Initial annual production is projected at about 13,600 tonnes. Once the facility reaches full capacity, output could rise to around 34,000 tonnes per year. The project is also expected to create jobs for approximately 408 people, supporting local employment and economic activity.

Training and skills development

The company is also focusing on workforce development and technology transfer. Around 30 Cambodian youths are expected to receive practical training and hands-on experience at the company’s branch in Vietnam.

After completing the training, they are expected to use their technical skills at the Kampot plant. The company also plans to provide continuing technical and professional training for employees, supporting Cambodia’s efforts to build human capital and expand its skilled industrial workforce.

Workplace safety measures

The facility is designed to operate around the clock in three eight-hour shifts. Health and safety staff will be on duty at all times, and the company says occupational safety will be a core part of daily operations, with the goal of achieving “Zero Accidents”.

Planned safety measures include:

• Workplace safety action plans
• Safety signs and alarm systems
• Emergency shut-off systems
• Adequate ventilation
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Regular safety training
• Emergency preparedness and response procedures

Environmental management

Environmental protection is another stated priority for the project. The company says it will support the Ministry of Environment’s “Clean, Green and Sustainable” approach by applying the management and mitigation measures set out in the approved EIA report.

Key areas of focus include air emissions, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste, occupational exposure, resource consumption and other environmental risks linked to metal processing and smelting.

Through investment, environmental controls, workplace safety, training and job creation, Asia Europe Metal KH Co., Ltd. aims to support Cambodia’s industrial growth while promoting cleaner and safer metal processing. The project is also expected to strengthen the country’s industrial capacity and help Cambodian workers access new opportunities in regional and international markets.
