Asia Europe Metal KH Co. Launches Sustainable Metal Processing Facility in Kampot

Asia Europe Metal KH Co., Ltd. has opened a new metal processing and smelting plant in Kampot Province, built to meet both Cambodian regulations and international environmental and operational standards.

The facility, situated on a 26-hectare plot in Mononop Village, received full approval from the Ministry of Environment in late August after its Environmental Impact Assessment was vetted and accepted. The plant is engineered to handle four key metals—antimony, lead, tin, and copper—with an initial annual capacity of around 13,600 tonnes, scalable to roughly 34,000 tonnes as operations mature. It is projected to create jobs for approximately 408 local workers, bolstering regional employment and economic activity.

In addition to industrial output, the company prioritizes workforce development. A core initiative involves sending about 30 Cambodian youth to its Vietnam branch for on-the-job training. Once certified, these individuals will return to Kampot to apply their expertise, strengthening the local technical workforce. Ongoing professional development programs will further ensure staff remain up to date on best practices and safety protocols.

Operating around the clock in three-shift rotations, the site maintains continuous health and safety coverage. Key measures include comprehensive safety planning, clearly marked signage, emergency shutoffs, enhanced ventilation, full PPE provision, periodic safety drills, and responsive emergency protocols—all aligned with the company’s Zero Accidents target.

Environmentally, the company aligns with the Ministry of Environment’s Clean, Green and Sustainable framework. It will implement the mitigation strategies outlined in the approved EIA, focusing on controlling emissions, treating wastewater, managing solid and hazardous waste, limiting exposure risks, and optimizing resource usage to minimize ecological impact.

By integrating responsible operations, skills investment, and safety-first practices, the plant aims to support Cambodia’s industrial ambitions while advancing cleaner, more sustainable metal production.
