Asia Europe Metal KH Boosts Sustainable Metal Processing and Skills Training in Kampot

A new metal processing and smelting plant is taking shape in Kampot Province, built by Asia Europe Metal KH Co., Ltd. to meet national requirements and relevant international standards. On August 27, the Ministry of Environment approved the project's Full Environmental Impact Assessment report, clearing the way for development of the facility on a 26.0091-hectare site in Mononop Village, Chumpu Voan Commune, Chum Kiri District.

Production and jobs

The plant will handle four main metals - antimony, lead, tin and copper - with most of the output destined for export markets. Initial output is projected at roughly 13,600 tonnes per year, rising to about 34,000 tonnes annually once full capacity is reached. Around 408 jobs are expected to be created, supporting employment and growth in the local area.

Training and skills transfer

Beyond manufacturing, the company is putting weight on workforce development. About 30 Cambodian young people are set to take part in practical, hands-on training at the firm's branch in Vietnam.

Safety first

The facility is planned to run around the clock, using three eight-hour shifts with health and safety officers present at all times. The company has set a target of "Zero Accidents" and has put in place a range of safeguards, including workplace safety action plans, signage, alarm systems, emergency shut-offs, proper ventilation, personal protective equipment, regular training, and emergency response procedures.

Environmental commitment

Environmental protection is another central priority. The company says it will follow the Ministry of Environment's "Clean, Green and Sustainable" approach by carrying out the mitigation measures laid out in the approved EIA report. Focus areas include air emissions, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste, occupational exposure, and resource use across all metal processing and smelting operations.

Through responsible investment, environmental management, workplace safety, skills training and job creation, Asia Europe Metal KH Co., Ltd. aims to support Cambodia's industrial development while advancing a cleaner and safer model for metal processing. The project is expected to strengthen the country's industrial base, open up opportunities for Cambodian workers, and aid continued integration into regional and global markets.
