IndiGo to Restart Kolkata-Siem Reap Service in October
IndiGo will reinstate direct flights between Kolkata and Siem Reap from October 1, offering three weekly services aimed at boosting tourism and trade between Cambodia and India.
A new direct air connection linking Kolkata with Siem Reap will launch in early October, marking a significant development for tourism and commercial relations between Cambodia and India, according to Sinn Chansereyvutha, spokesman for the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation.
The Indian carrier IndiGo plans to reinstate service between Kolkata and Siem Reap starting October 1, 2026, with three weekly departures scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The airline will deploy Airbus A320neo aircraft on the route.
Chansereyvutha characterized the service restoration as an encouraging development for deepening Cambodia-India relations. In a September 23 statement, he noted that the connection first began operations in November 2025 but was later paused due to seasonal demand patterns. He expressed confidence that reintroducing the route would energize key economic areas including tourism, religious travel, and commerce.
"This represents a substantial commercial partnership opportunity for both nations, as the air link will facilitate joint tourism marketing efforts, compelling travel packages, and broader connectivity across both countries," Chansereyvutha explained.
He added that Siem Reap Angkor International Airport stands ready to accommodate IndiGo's operations with safe and dependable service standards.
Cambodia's national airline, Air Cambodia, currently maintains direct service between Phnom Penh and New Delhi.
Thoun Sinan, who leads the Pacific Asia Travel Association's Cambodia Chapter, emphasized India's position as the world's second-largest source of international travelers after China. He stated that IndiGo's service resumption would deliver considerable advantages to Cambodia's tourism and business sectors.
Tourism Ministry data shows that 71,046 Indian visitors arrived in Cambodia during 2025, representing an 8.5 percent decrease from 2024 figures. Through the first eight months of 2026, Indian arrivals totaled 35,905, reflecting a 19.2 percent year-over-year decline.
As of August 2026, the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation reported that four domestic airlines and 29 international carriers were serving Cambodia.
