Canadian International School of Phnom Penh Expands Regional Ties with EARCOS Membership
The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh has joined the East Asia Regional Council of Schools, providing students and faculty with expanded academic resources, university networks, and regional professional development.
The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh (CIS) has officially joined the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS), marking a notable expansion of global collaboration and academic resources for its students and faculty.
By entering the council in September 2026, the school broadens its access to an established network of educational professionals, global higher education institutions, grants, and scholarship programs.
Broader Opportunities for Students and Faculty
CIS Head of School Daun Yorke described the admission as a progressive step for the institution, emphasizing that the council connects campus educators with fellow specialists across East and Southeast Asia while opening direct pathways to prominent universities.
Yorke noted that these expanded connections will enrich student learning, development, and overall well-being, while simultaneously supporting the advancement of international education standards within Cambodia.
A Growing Regional Network
Founded in 1958, EARCOS is a non-profit educational body dedicated to encouraging innovation and academic rigor. Its network comprises 245 member schools operating across 22 countries in Asia, serving a combined student population of roughly 200,000.
The membership complements a portfolio of existing accreditations and affiliations at CIS, including:
- Alberta Education (Canada)
- The International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization
- The Council of International Schools
- LabelFrancÉducation
Enrolling students from nursery through Grade 12, CIS blends the Alberta curriculum with the IB Primary Years and Diploma Programmes. School leaders noted that these combined certifications provide families with versatile academic pathways designed to prepare learners for university studies worldwide.
